PROBLEM
Small clinics take bookings by phone and lose them to missed calls and no-shows. Mawid gives a clinic its own bilingual booking site and admin panel, and is built so the next clinic, or the next kind of business, is a configuration change rather than a new build. The first vertical is a dental clinic.
WHAT'S IN IT
- Arabic-first (RTL) public site rendered on the server for SEO, with English as a second language.
- A booking wizard whose steps (service, doctor, notes) the admin can switch on and off, and admin screens for services, doctors, hours, and a before/after gallery with direct-to-storage uploads.
- An AI receptionist that chats, books appointments, and answers opening-hours and location questions from real data through tools, instead of guessing.
- WhatsApp messages for confirmations, cancellations, welcome messages, and a daily reminder the day before each appointment.
- All times stored in UTC, with slot maths in the clinic's own timezone.
ROLE
Engineer at SaySoft — NestJS API, Next.js site and admin, the AI receptionist, and WhatsApp messaging.
NOTABLE DECISION
Double-booking is prevented by the database, not just by the booking form. A partial unique index on active appointments' start times, plus a re-check inside the transaction, means two patients racing for the same slot can't both get it. And WhatsApp, Google Calendar, and the AI assistant are all optional: if one is down or not configured it logs and skips, so a booking never fails because of them.
